Born 1969, Yana Meech is one of New Zealand’s up and coming contemporary painters.

As a self taught artist she realised at an early age that by projecting her emotions to the canvas she could achieve a better life balance.  Yana paints with acrylic on canvas, experimenting with many different styles from contemporary landscape to abstract.

Working out of a purpose built art studio at her country home makes the perfect location for her artistic work.  Her works sells throughout New Zealand and overseas including UK, Scotland, Australia and the United States.

Yana has exhibited extensively throughout New Zealand from Orewa in the North to Christchurch in the South.  Placed second in the acrylics section at the 2011 Franklin Arts Festival and Merit Award at 2014 Easter Show Art Exhibition.

Love THIS QUOTE:      I paint so I don’t choke people

Received Merit Award at 2014 Easter Show Art Exhibition with the painting below

“I purchased "The Aged City" from you at the Christchurch exhibition.

I was the guy who had 30 landscapes at home, was looking at landscapes on the day, and was stopped in my tracks by your work. It was  completely outside of my comfort zone.  I am now back in my repaired home; the painting was unwrapped and went up today and I just love it!

And to add to the story: my best friend was telling  me how she went to the show, just loved the work of one artist and spent time talking with her but when she went back to look again at the painting she wanted it had gone.

We put two and two together, got out the identical business cards we had been given and yes......... I had bought the very painting she had her eye on!

So you have some fans

in the earthquake city

Just repeating -

I love my purchase.”

Ellerslie Art Exhibition, May 2016, Yana received !st Prize for “best overall work” .

Note from judge:

Powerfully enticing, it pulls you in wondering what lies beyond.  This work leaves a mystery in the viewer’s mind, one you can come back to again and maybe go on a different journey.  Great colour choices with excellent use of tone.
